Tips for Buying a Home in 2019

If 2019 is the year that you planning on buying a new home or moving to another state, city or country – we want to say “congratulations.” At Beltmann we want to come alongside of you to make this next transition and easier one. 2019 comes with lots of opportunities and obstacles. It’s important that you understand what lies ahead of you as a buyer in 2019.

Here are some tips for what you can expect:

Inventory is Low
Housing inventory in the U.S. has been falling for the past few years — and Trulia isn’t anticipating that changing in 2019. But, that doesn’t mean you should curl up on your couch and just give up. A few things to consider – you should definitely look at old listings, don’t rule out fixer uppers and try to get a handle on new listings before they hit the market (as your real estate agent).

Homes Are Expensive But There are Flexible Options

Home prices will continue to increase in most areas in 2019, which means a larger down-payment. When most people thing about getting a home, they think they have to pay 20% down – but, there are mortgage options that only require 5-10 percent. So, talk to a mortgage lender to get up to speed with the options before you start looking at homes, that way you know what you can afford. Beltmann Relocation Company, moving & storage company

Interest Rates Will Rise

Interest rates are predicted to continue to rise in 2019 – they are scheduled to hit a 10 year high. But, to keep it in perspective – rates are still extremely low compared to 1988, when your parent’s mortgage interest rate was at 10.34 percent!
