According to Zillow Research, the housing market remains tight, with fewer available homes for sale this year than last. And the average home value in the United States is at a record-high sales price of $351,423, or 1.3% higher than it was last year.
Fortunately, some generally good news shows that more sellers are cutting prices and that the pace of sales has slowed slightly — which generally means less competition and more time for home buyers to seek and find their next house. One other finding is that the number of newly listed homes went up slightly from July to August, an increase of 4.0 percent.
