Fun with Fido in New Jersey

Anyone with a pet knows that moving them away from “home” can be stressful on man’s best friend. As you let the NJ movers do the hard work, go out and explore what New Jersey has to offer your pet. Here is a list of dog parks, dog beaches and retail stores that are pet friendly so that you can start your new life in Jersey with a happy pet.

Best Dog Parks

Veterans Memorial Park has over 333 acres of land for you and your dog to explore and have fun. There are two fenced dog areas, one for large and one for small dogs. Both spaces have obstacle courses and fun doggy-playground equipment, as well as the all-important poop bags and trash receptacles.

Brookdale Dog Park started as a piece of land that dog owners favored for their daily walk. Several years ago, the space was transformed into an inviting space for dogs and their owners. This dog park has all the typical amenities, along with “time out” areas for dogs to calm down, dog washing areas, and water fountains for your furry friends.

Dog Beaches

If your pooch has been listening to too much Beach Boys, take them to visit one of New Jersey’s dog-friendly beaches. At Sandy Hook/Gateway National Park, dogs are permitted as long as they stay on a leash. Sunset Beach is also a great place for your dog to leave some prints in the sand. You can even bring your leashed dog with you to the Sunset Beach Grill, which has plenty of outdoor seating for those with dogs in-tow.

Retail

For anyone wanting to do some shopping with their beloved pooch, be sure to visit the Mall at Short Hills. Guest services is sure to put your animal friend in the shopping spirit. Shoppers can check out a complimentary pet stroller to give their dog a luxurious ride. Guest services will even give your dog a few treats to help make the shopping trip a tasty one.
