For those who have a love for architecture, Oak Park is a beautiful mecca of Frank Lloyd Wright homes. It’s close enough to the city that you can still ride the train downtown quickly. Winnetka

If you’re looking for a little higher end area, Winnetka is worth a look. It’s got several nice beaches, kitschy shops and restaurants, and a cute downtown area that both locals and tourists are drawn to.

Evanston

With over 60 places listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Evanston has got all sorts of vibe and history. It sits along Lake Michigan and has six great beaches. It’s downtown is also a point of interest, full of bookstores, shops, and cafes.
