Top 5 Things to Do in Phoenix

Exploring Phoenix during the winter months is a beautiful idea. The weather is lovely (not too hot, not too cold), there aren’t an insane number of tourists out and about, and there are plenty of things to do!

If you only have a few days to explore, we’ve compiled a list of some of our top-five recommended things to do in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area.

  1. Take a Hike – From easy to difficult, you’re never far from a hiking trail in Phoenix. For the ultimate challenge (and arguably, the most impressive view), Echo Canyon Trail on Camelback Mountain is a noble goal. The website VisitPhoenix.com has created this list of the best hikes in Phoenix, broken down by difficulty and location to help find the most suitable hike for you.
  2. Desert Botanical Garden – Looking for a fun — yet peaceful — place to stroll with the family, or the perfect date-night spot? Desert Botanical Garden is a living museum featuring over 50,000 plants, combined with a thriving dining and music scene. Explore numerous cacti in their peak desert colors, with a range of sizes and dimensions. Advance tickets are required.
  3. Step into the Spa – Seek solitude from the Scottsdale, Ariz. desert at the Spa Avania, featuring massages, facials, body therapies, and a full-service salon for men and women. Awaken, rejuvenate, and unwind as you indulge in blissful treatments at the spa located in Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch. (Note, the spa is currently closed on Wednesdays.)
  4. Tour the Grand Canyon – Catch a private tour of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim on a day-trip or quick overnight tour (with an optional stop in Sedona, Ariz.). From historic Route 66 to one of America’s great natural wonders, you get an up-close look at the region’s iconic sights on a Private Day Tour.
  5. Visit the Arizona Snowbowl – Located on the majestic San Francisco Peaks, Arizona Snowbowl is just outside of Flagstaff, Ariz., so only two hours away from Phoenix, and 70 miles from the Grand Canyon. The resort opened in 1938 and is one of the oldest continually operated ski areas in the country. At Snowbowl, winter is more than just a season — it’s an invitation to see Arizona from a brand new perspective. With 260 inches of average annual snowfall, discover elevated winter experiences close to home at the state’s premier ski and snowboard destination. If you prefer not to ski, you can also take in the scenic gondola lift rides or simply enjoy the dining and night life.
