Keeping Cool While Phoenix Heats Up

These ideas are just the tip of the iceberg for how to have fun in The Valley of the Sun. 
Salt River Tubing
Enjoy nature and cool off by grabbing a tube and floating down the Salt River. Rent a tube and take the shuttle to the launch point, and then you’ll float through Tonto National Forest on gentle rapids. Tubing will take between 2 and 6 hours, so pack your sunscreen and bring your cooler! Insider tip: bring an old sheet to drape over the tube, which is black and will heat up quickly.
If you’re up for exploring outside of Phoenix’s city limits, there are several caves within a few hours of the city. Colossal Cave, which is the closest drive at 2 hours, is naturally kept at 70 degrees year-round and is a cool option to consider when looking to beat the heat. There are guided tours given on the hour and even a few tours offered for the more adventurous and athletic visitors. Other options to explore include Kartchner Caverns State Park and Grand Canyon Caverns.
Indoor Entertainment
Of course, escaping to the air conditioning is always an option to beat the heat. There is the Phoenix Art Museum or the Arizona Science Center for a museum experience or the LEGOLAND Discovery Center for the young ones (or young at heart). For the adults, there are numerous casinos (which offer more than just gambling- pools, shopping, fine dining, etc.) and spas which range from rustic to luxury. No matter what you’re looking for, there’s something to fit everyone’s taste!
