Dining on Roosevelt Row in Phoenix

Relocating to Phoenix means you get to explore the sights and tastes of your new city as you get settled in. Food trucks have been popular in other major cities like New York City and Los Angeles, but Phoenix has their own flair, with many trucks parking permanently and opening little eateries. If you enjoy local food prepared by fellow-Phoenicians, check out these restaurants in the artsy Roosevelt Row neighborhood.

Short Leash Hot Dogs

With their motto being, “Sit…Stay,” Short Leash Hot Dogs has a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying your delicious dog. You can choose from many unique combinations like the Moki dog which includes your choice of dog and the following toppings: roasted green chiles, sautéed onions, tomatoes, pinto beans, cheddar, and a touch of mayonnaise. Instead of the usual hot dog bun, they use naan flat bread to create one-of-a-kind hot dog experiences.

Welcome Diner

This diner not only has tasty food with local roots, but the actual building has a rich history. The diner was originally built in Wichita, Kansas and was moved to the Roosevelt location in the 1980’s, remaining vacant until the Welcome Diner opened in 2004. Welcome Diner serves the traditional diner classics, using more local and gourmet ingredients.

Mamma Toledo’s The Pie Hole

Mamma Toledo’s is a legend in itself, serving the most delectable pies you might ever eat. You can find her pastries at many Phoenix restaurants or you can find the Mamma Toledo’s food truck rolling through town. Either way, make the mama proud and try some pie!
