Top Schools in Kansas City

When you decide to move, one of the first things you look into should be the schools – if you have children. This can determine where you live and work, and most of all the happiness and success of your children. Before you schedule with your Kansas City movers, look over this list of top schools in Kansas City.

English Landing Elementary School. This school is K-5 with 549 students, and is in the Park Hill School District. They offer rigorous academics as well as extracurricular activities such as band, theater, photography, and many specialized sports. There are programs for children with disabilities, English Language Learners, and gifted and talented. Their scores on the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests are above average. Seventy-four percent of children are Caucasian, 13% African-American, 6% Asian, and 6% Hispanic. Thirty-three percent are on the free and reduced lunch program.

Lakeview Middle School. This school is Grades 7-8 with 769 students, and is in the Park Hill School District. They offer extracurricular activities such as band, orchestra, theater, sports, newspaper, and year book. Their scores on the MAP tests are above average. Eighty-one percent of children are Caucasian, 9% African-American, 5% Hispanic, and 3% Asian. Twenty-one percent of children are on the free and reduced lunch program.

Lincoln College Preparartory. This magnet school is Grades 6-12, with 1,002 students, and is in the Kansas City 33 School District. They offer extracurricular activities such as band, sports such as badminton, and academic contests. Their scores on the MAP tests are above average. Sixty-three percent of children are African-American, 16% Hispanic, 14% Caucasian, and 7% Asian. Sixty-percent of the students are on the free and reduced lunch program.

Shoal Creek Elementary. This school is K-5 with 693 students, and is in the Liberty 53 School District. They offer extracurricular activities such as physical education and orchestra. Their scores on the MAP tests are above average. Eighty-nine percent of children are Caucasian, 5% Asian, 3% African-American, 3% Hispanic. Six-percent of the students are on the free and reduced lunch program.

Academie Lafayette. This French immersion school is K-12 with 564 students. They offer extracurricular activities such as band, basketball, choir, and orchestra. Their scores on the MAP tests are above average. Sixty-percent of children are Caucasian, 32% African-American, 4% Hispanic, 3% Asian. Twenty-seven percent are on the free and reduced lunch program.
