If you’re moving to Miami from another state, there may be a bit of a learning curve. Like any city, Miami has its strengths and its idiosyncrasies. You may want to talk through some of these with your family to make the move more fun an interesting. Here’s a few pointers to get you started.
The weather may be different than where you’re coming from. Miami has plenty of rain, and more thunderstorms
than most American cities. And the term “tropical monsoon climate” might scare some, but it also has its plus-side: the winters rarely get cold at all (most lows are in the high fifties and sixties), and Miami basically never gets snow.
Miami has some beautiful diversity. Being so close to Latin America, Miami has a high Spanish-speaking population. Which means you and your family can learn tons about Latin American culture. And locals would suggest that it wouldn’t hurt to learn a few phrases in Spanish, as well.
Contrary to what Will Smith music videos might suggest, Miami Beach is actually a fantastic place to take your family. Miami Beach has a lot of touristy attractions, and some would consider it to be more family-friendly than other parts of metropolitan Miami.
