Simple Storage Hacks to Incorporate Today

storage hacks

It’s been said that we should “Let go of the old to make room for the new.” And who among us couldn’t use a little extrastorage space at home? When you’re cramming things into small spaces or simply trying to maximize the space for more of a clutter-free home, getting the most out of your place makes sense.

There are countless ways to improve our storage areas, especially with a little extra creativity. These are a few of our favorites:

  • Turn an old tissue box into a storage box….by simply gluing some patterned fabric around the outside and inside of the box. Use the boxes individually, or as a base of containers inside a larger cabinet or junk drawer.

  • Make a concrete lamp shade with light, using a set of vases, fabric, and some small batteries. Need more details? Check out this post.

  • Create a faux lantern, using wooden or metal picture frames. Simply use four wooden picture frames to create a lantern shape, plus add a base and a topper. Perfect for mood lighting at all of your evening commitments. This tutorial on YouTube explains more.

  • Make use of a shower rod to store extra supplies. Place a tension curtain rod on the back wall of your shower or bath wall. Next, add shower clips and baskets, combined with metal curtain clips to hold items like shampoo, face wash, a wash cloth, or a loofa sponge.

  • Convert a bathroom cart into a craft cart. Voila, bonus extra space for supplies that you can easily move around from project to project!

  • Organize jewelry on a pants hanger. Think about those long hooks! Now just add bracelets and small necklaces to each row of the hanger. Then hang it on a wall or in a closet for easy access to all of your bling.

  • Use folding chairs as extra shelves in a garage or storage area. Using heavy duty hooks, hang the chairs on the wall, and then open them to place extra items.
