Signs That it’s Time to Move

Signs From Our Moversfor sale movers

Packing up our earthly belongings, storing prized possessions, and moving to a new place is a very personal decision. It can be time-consuming and require a lot of effort and planning for individuals and families alike. And yet, there are seasons of life where it’s apparent that it’s a good idea to make a change.

So how do we know when it’s time to make a move?

We’ve created this helpful list of questions to ask yourself when you’re considering whether or not to move soon.

  1. Is there a job offer in a new city?

Relocation for a new job (or a job transfer) is one of the more common reasons for people to move. Thankfully, many companies that require a move also offer some form of relocation services. If not, consider asking for these services as part of your salary negotiation.

  1. Is space a little tight?

If you and your family are feeling cramped, or like you simply don’t have room for anything else, it might be time for a bigger space. Perhaps there’s a new baby arriving, or aging parents have moved in, or your outdoor entertainment options are limited when you stay home. If so, consider a change in your living space.

  1. Are you ready for an upgrade?

When you’re ready for a better neighborhood or a nicer place, it’s probably time to look at making a move. If your financial picture has increased but your place hasn’t, then moving for upgrades such as a nicer kitchen, more outdoor space, or adding a guest room might make sense. Remember, it’s OK to treat yourself once in a while.

  1. Does your home have too much empty space?

If, on the other hand, life has slowed down and you’d rather spend less time cleaning up empty spaces, then it might be time to consider down-sizing your residence. Not only will you save on monthly living costs, but you might have more flexibility in your schedule if there’s less house to maintain.

  1. Is your commute wearing you down?

If your job isn’t located near your home, then moving to be closer to work could help alleviate some of the travel stress you experience on a regular basis by adding more time to your “me-time” and less time on the road.

  1. Are the city or suburbs calling your name?

Maybe you’ve always been part of an urban location and are craving green spaces or better schools. Or, perhaps you’ve spent enough time in suburbia and want to be closer to the vibrant city scene. Whatever the case, moving to align with your family’s priorities can help.

  1. Are there safety concerns in your neighborhood?

Not only is it important in life to be safe, it’s also important to feel safe. Are there available neighborhoods where you can experience more of that feeling? If so, then you might want to invest in a future conversation with a realtor or apartment agent to help find your new dream home.
