How To Keep Pets Happy During a Move
March 25, 2013
We all love our pets. Your Kansas City Mover does as well. Pets are more than just companions – they are members of our families. So if you think moving is stressful for you, just think how your pets must feel.
So what are some ways to mitigate the stress your pets are under while moving and what are some things you can do to help them to be happy and safe during this time in your lives?
Number One: Stay calm. We can’t emphasize this enough. Since animals take many of their emotional cues from humans, if you’re nervous about moving, your pet is going to be nervous as well.
Number Two: Keep your schedule as normal as possible. If you take your dog out for a walk at the same time every day, do it on your moving day as well. If you have a daily “play” time with your kitten, make sure you still play at that time. Our pets are “creatures of habit”. Consistency of schedule is critical in keeping them happy and secure.
Number Three: Make your pet’s travel experience comfortable. If at all possible make sure to bring along your pet’s favorite toys and treats as you move to your new location. If travelling by car, use a pet carrier large enough to give your pet some room to move around, but also comfortable enough for them to curl up and fall asleep.
These are just a few tips to make your pet happy during your move.
