Top 3 Green Spaces in Milwaukee

It might feel like your Milwaukee Mover is taking you to a concrete jungle of a big city, but rest assured, Milwaukee has 9,100 acres of natural spaces for recreation and solitude in nature. Here are first three spaces you should visit.

Little Menomonee River Parkway
This park stretches along the Little Menomonee River, creating 867 acres of park land. Oak Leaf Trail, a paved multi-use trail, cuts through the length of the park, north to south. A facility for archery is popular in this park, as well as a playground called a “tot lot.”

Whitnall Park
This 627-acre park is a great place for hiking through nature. Oak Leaf Trail cuts through the park. Take the 1.5-mile nature trail around the lake and visit the waterfall. Visit Boerner Botanical Gardens, an internationally renowned horticulture showplace. They offer programs and continuing education. Also, take a walk and see a series of whimsical metal sculptures designed by Wisconsin Artist Mike Kmiotek. Be sure to visit Wehr Nature Center, where you can hike with a naturalist and shop in the Visitor Center. View the natural history displays and a collection of live reptiles. The park is also home to a golf course.

Grant Park
Sitting on Lake Michigan, this 379-acre park has both beaches and wooded areas. Rent the Wulff Lodge for the day or overnight. It is a cozy wood-frame bungalow tucked back into the woods, perfect for a retreat into nature. Other features include a beach house, golf course, tennis courts, and soccer fields. The Oak Leaf Trail also winds through this park.

Once your Milwaukee Mover has your truck unloaded and boxes unpacked, you’ll be ready to get out of the house. Pack a picnic and visit one of these beautiful parks.
