Ideas on How to Enjoy a Staycation in Milwaukee This Spring Break

When spring comes around, everyone starts to think about Spring Break. If a Milwaukee mover has just unloaded your household, and you are left the task of putting it back together, you may not want to take a vacation away from home. Try a staycation in Milwaukee this year!

Go museum hopping. Take the kids to the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum where they can play and learn interactively. Or take them to the Discovery World Museum where kids will learn about science and technology in a fun way. Take your motorcycle-loving spouse to the Harley-Davidson Museum, or visit the quirky but interesting International Clown Hall of Fame.

Plan a trip downtown on public transportation. You won’t have to worry about parking, paying for gas, or driving. You can relax and enjoy the scenery go by. Downtown you will find stores with men’s and women’s clothing, books, shoes, department stores, camping stores, jewelry and gift stores, and more.

Spend a night at a local bed and breakfast. Use some of the money you would have saved from not going on a long distance vacation, and spend a little on an overnight splurge.  The Schuster Mansion Bed & Breakfast, or the Brumder Mansion Bed & Breakfast are right in Milwaukee and will give you a relaxing night away with a wonderful breakfast awaiting you in the morning.

Visit the visitors’ website and get some advice on what is going on culturally during the week of your staycation. Milwaukee’s website is www.visitmilwaukee.org. This site is full of information. It can point you to theaters, historic sites, shopping, special events, and much more.

Eat only at locally owned restaurants. While you are making a point to see the best of Milwaukee, leave out the chain restaurants. Try Blue’s. They serve a daily Egg Plate and donate $1 of every order to a different local charity each month.

As you get to know your new city, enjoy the best of what they have to offer. Once your Milwaukee mover is out the door, you can plan a fun week for the whole family.
