Fall Activities in the Chicago Area

Just because the summer is winding down and the temperatures are dropping doesn’t mean that the fun has to end. Those who decide to make the move to Chicago need not worry about running out of things to do. Check out some of the fun activities Chicago has to offer this fall season:

Public Parks

Enjoy the turning of the leaves and the smell of fall in Chicago’s beautiful parks. Check out the palm trees and the cacti at the Garfield Park conservatory. Get your picture taken in front of Millennium Park’s “Cloud Gate” (better knows as the “the bean.”) Or visit the  famous Lincoln Park for everything from miniature golf, a zoo, and the Chicago History Museum.

Festivals

The amount of festivals Chicago offers in the fall will have you forgetting about summer in no time. Oktoberfest Chicago is generally known for “beers, brats, and band,” but they also offer “Kinderfest,” a schedule of family activities on Sunday afternoon. You can catch some laughs at the Chicago Comedy Film Fest in early October. Or take the kids to Navy Pier’s Really Big Halloween Party, a free event featuring animal rides, live music, and a costume contest.

Indoor Fun

Whether you’re moving to Chicago single, married, or with a house full of kids, there are plenty of great indoor activities to keep you busy until the weather warms up again. Take a date to the one-day cooking school at the famous Chopping Block. Families can check out Go Bananas, an indoor theme park with rides and games for kids of all ages. And at the Little Beans Cafe, parents can work or get a manicure while kids are supervised by staff in the giant custom-built play village.
