Best New Restaurant : River Roast vs. The Promontory

BWhen it comes to the restaurant landscape in Chicago, every new restaurant owner wants to be the new “it” thing. And there’s plenty to choose from in the Windy City. Although there’s a seemingly endless amount of new restaurants always opening up in Chicago, we’ve whittled it down to our two new favorites. If you’re looking to get a little adventurous with your dining this week, check out one of these two newly opened eateries.

River Roast

Every seat in the restaurant allows for a beautiful view of the river and city, especially the outdoor patio area. But the views are only the beginning. The roasts – from fish to chicken to roast beef – are prepared perfectly and carved tableside. You can also enjoy brews of all kinds- fine wines, cocktails, and beers including several local options.

And for the quality of dining, the prices are surprisingly affordable. Even if you go big and get a drink, you can easily get out for less than $30.

The Promontory

The Promontory is another of our new favorites, featuring exquisite modern hearth cooking. What’s modern hearth cooking, you ask? According to their website, it’s contemporary American food highlighting historic dishes cooked in a wood-fired oven.” Sound delicious? It is, but it gets better. The Promontory is also a legit music venue, where you can enjoy an all-ages night of great listening. Between hip DJ’s and classy jazz acts, you can catch all sorts of genres at the Promontory.
