Coordinating your own move is a big job and at Beltmann, we recognize this. That’s why our dedicated relocation counselors will help you with every step, from planning through delivery. There are many variables to be considered during a move. Each one can affect the price or timing of a move and we are here to help you navigate through the process. Beltmann’s focus is to do everything possible to make your life easier and reduce some of the worry involved in moving. We promise to help you plan for any and all possible contingencies. We know you’re in a stressful situation and we view it as our job to help you through the move.
We Understand That Moving Can Be A Daunting Task
At Beltmann, we want to help educate you on the moving process and how we can help safeguard you from some of the potential drawbacks. We believe that by helping you make an informed decision on the right mover for your needs, we’ll help you see the benefits of moving with us.
Our professional sales staff is highly trained to provide you with the most accurate moving estimate. When reviewing your estimate, a good “rule of thumb” is that for each room in your residence, you’ll have approximately 1,000 lbs. of goods. For example, if there are 9 rooms total, you should expect your estimated weight to be roughly 9,000 lbs.
Prior to beginning the move process, one factor to take into account is whether or not you will pack your own belongings or consider other packing alternatives. If you require professional packing services, you should expect approximately 10 boxes per 1,000 lbs. Beltmann can provide full or partial packing services to meet your needs. If you are considering this service, please discuss your options with one of our professionally trained sales representatives at the time of your estimate.
It is also important to consider other services that may be required to complete your move process seamlessly. Services such as crating needs, extra pick ups or deliveries, auto transportation, appliance servicing, etc. should be discussed with your relocation counselor at the time of your estimate.

Controlling the Cost of Your Move
The cost of an interstate or intrastate move is determined by the amount of goods you‘re moving and the distance you’re moving them. A local move is priced by the number of men and the number of hours needed for your move. Regardless of the type of move you’re considering, the weight of your goods will affect the price, as well as additional services you request such as packing, crating, extra pick ups, storage or shipping bulky items such as automobiles. Another additional service sometimes needed is a shuttle. A shuttle is required if a tractor trailer is unable to access your home due to low hanging tree branches or wires, narrow winding roads, low weight limit bridges, city restrictions or steep hills. A smaller truck known as a straight truck is used and your belongings are transferred from the tractor trailer to the straight truck, which can access your home.
One of the best ways to reduce the cost of your move is to reduce what you’re taking. Any item that is heavy, yet inexpensive, is not a good item to move. Examples of this would be firewood, building materials, etc.
Protecting Your Belongings - Valuation Options
It’s important to us that your belongings arrive safely. We train our staff thoroughly to ensure that your belongings are packed correctly, transported safely and unloaded professionally. But we share the road with others and sometimes an item might get damaged. That’s why we offer valuation protection.
Free Basic Liability Protection - Basic Liability Protection is provided at no cost, although the coverage is limited. It provides repair or replacement up to a maximum of $.60 per pound per article in the case of damage or loss.
If the level of protection you need is greater than our basic liability coverage, we also offer our Maximum Value Protection (MVP). MVP is your optimum coverage option.
Maximum Value Protection - MVP gives you complete peace of mind during your move. MVP provides full replacement protection on any item damaged or lost during your move. We will pay to replace or repair the item, whichever costs less, up to the full value of the item after the deductible, if applicable. MVP is provided for an additional cost and should be discussed with your relocation counselor at the time of your estimate as well.
Packing Services
You have many options when it comes to packing. You can do it yourself or let our professional packers give you a hand. You can also create a customized plan where you start the process and we help with the fragile items. Here are some choices:
- Full Service Packing: You can supervise … but we’ll do the work. We’ll pack everything in your household, big and small.
- Fragile Only Packing: We’ve spent years perfecting our packing techniques, so you might consider letting us protect your fragile items. We can create a custom packing plan based on these items.
- Self Pack: For the do-it-yourselfer, you take the lead on all the packing … but we can still provide a helping hand. We have lots of packing tips we can share with you and can arrange for all the packing materials you’ll need.
Your possessions come in a variety of unique shapes and weights. That’s why we have a wide variety of specialty materials to pack them in. If you will need to purchase packing materials, Beltmann can provide you with any of the necessary materials including the following:
- Standard boxes from 1.5 to 6 cubic feet

- Dishpack barrels: Sturdy packaging for your china and dishware.
Loading and Delivery
Getting your belongings out of your previous home and into your new home can be tricky. Luckily, we’re prepared for it. Our crews are professionally trained to protect your belongings and your residence with the following methods:
- Stretch-wrap: For your upholstered furniture, to protect it from snags, tears, and dirt.
- Disassembly/Assembly: From entertainment centers to beds to swing sets, just tell us what needs to be disassembled and moved with you. We’ll put it back together again at your destination.
- Residence Protection Pads: Protect the railings, tight corners and doors.
- Carpet Covers: Keep high traffic areas clean.
- Systematic Loading: Boxes are labeled and inventoried based on rooms and your needs upon arrival.
- Systematic Unloading: We put your belongings in the rooms you want them in, just point the way.
- Unpacking: Say the word and we’ll take care of it.
- Debris Removal: Our crew can remove all the empty containers after unpacking.
Storage
Can’t move into your home right away? We can store your belongings for you in a climate-controlled environment at a reasonable price. Your shipment can be brought into one of our warehouses where we will wrap each piece and place them in a storage vault. Each vault holds about one room of furniture. The vaults are sealed and stacked in the warehouse. Unlike a mini-warehouse, where your possessions are left open in a cage or a garage-like unit, your shipment is protected from dust and out of sight from others.
All of our warehouses are in safe and secure neighborhoods. Each facility has the most modern security systems, along with fire and pest protection. We can store your items at origin or at destination, depending on your timing needs. Peace of mind is what we offer should you need storage when you’re moving.
